Fall can be described as a beautiful season, with rich, warm aromas, magnificent colors, and the autumn equinox. It's a time of change and falling leaves, creating room for what's to come.
Fall can also be described as freely descending or dropping oneself to a lower level. This fall does not come with pleasant aromas or bright red and orange colors; instead, it comes with pain and black and blue bruises. When we were young, a fall only made us more resilient. We'd quickly brush ourselves off and get right back to our adventures. As we age, falling looks quite a bit different. The pain is more intense, and the consequences tend to be worse. Bouncing back from a fall is often not immediate, but there is still good news. Physical therapists can help speed up the recovery, helping you return quicker to the healthy, active lifestyle you enjoy. It's important to keep yourself mobile. Working with a physical therapist can help decrease stiffness in your joints and muscles. We work together on decreasing the swelling and reducing pain. We'll spend some time discussing fall prevention and encourage you to perform home exercises, which will help improve your balance, build strength, and enhance coordination. A descending fall is not enjoyable while the fall season is. We can provide support to speed up the healing process, allowing you the opportunity to witness the beauty of the changing scenery around you. |
