Does your child struggle with bedwetting? Bedwetting for a child, especially an older child, can be a sensitive and embarrassing topic. We want to help! Bedwetting is not an illness. Many children who suffer from it also suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction.
We specialize in pelvic health and can help determine why your child is still having accidents. We will conduct a thorough examination, reviewing health history, bowel and bladder history, dietary assessment, and physical exam. We will evaluate your child's movement patterns, checking to see if any muscle weakness or overactivity may contribute to the underlying issue. There are a plethora of treatment options that are determined by what occurs through the examination. Treatment options include, but are not limited to, toileting mechanics, double voiding, pelvic floor coordination practice, breathing pattern practice, motor control exercises for the abdominal muscles, self colonic massage, catheter balloon training, and biofeedback using ultrasound imaging. Most patients only need some of this. We start with a simple approach and progress from there. We will send you home with homework and follow-up practices that will increase your child's ability to control their bowel and bladder. Over time you will notice the following benefits in your child, increased bladder capacity, increased bladder sensation, and decreased urinary reflux. Your goals are our goals. Let's work on this early in life! |
